You could easily forget that Islay is the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides.
Each year the beautiful scenery, history, wildlife and its world famous whisky distilleries attract over 56,000 visitors, but there is always room for a few more with so much to see and do.
Step back in time to an era of when holidays meant friendly faces and enjoyable relaxing places. Join us and discover your Islay soon, there is always a warm welcome awaiting you at The Lodge in Port Ellen.
Port Ellen
Port Ellen is a small but pretty village with three sandy beaches a stone’s throw away from The Lodge. In a lovely quiet location but with idyllic local pubs featuring fine local produce and the shops within a few minutes walk.
Slightly further afield you’ll find the distillieries of Laphroaig (1km), Lagavulin (2km) and Ardbeg. Perhaps you’ll combine these as a walk, hire some bikes (our roads are lovely and quiet!), catch the local bus or drive along the beautiful coastal road to visit these famous Islay Whiskies.
Other day trips can feature the famous Kildalton Cross and the picturesque Claggain Bay.
